I have to admit that I fell asleep several
minutes into this one. I woke up when I heard
his voice stop talking, and let me tell you I felt pretty refreshed. The form of mediation that works best for me is
10 minute cat naps. I can’t really explain it, but I feel better after words. Typically when someone is guiding me through
relaxing exercises that’s my queue to take a cat nap. Low and behold I wake up
as soon as the presenter is finished. Subconsciously I don’t dream, and my mind
is completely blank with the exception of the soft voice of the presenter. I'm not sure if it’s rude
or not but the outcome is what we are all looking for, a sense of refreshness
to get you through your day.
Hi Thomas. That makes sense that you fell asleep that fast if you were possibly already tired. I think if my dog was not sitting beside me chewing her bone I may have. I think the point to it is not only relaxation, but also guided imagery and having a sense of awareness of your body to be able to invoke muscle relaxation. I could be wrong, but that is what I got from it. Thanks Thomas!
ReplyDeleteThomas,
ReplyDeleteI just read somewhere that 10 minutes is ideal for a nap during the day, so there ya go! :) I found this exercise very relaxing and it is amazing to think that 10-15 minutes is all your body needs to get rested and ready to tackle the rest of the day.
Best of luck,
Brandy
Thomas,
ReplyDeleteI think I might have dosed for a minute there at the end as well. I remember paying attention very vividly to what he was saying and then sometime after he was explaining how to bring the bloodflow back into the chest I kind of lost track of what he was saying. Whether I actually fell asleep or just daydreamed for a minute there I also felt really rejuvenated when it was all said and done. I agree with you that it's the outcome we're going for. So glad you have a way to reboot during the day. I think I may give this 10 minute cat nap a try!!
Great first post!

Hi Thomas, In some instances when I listen to certain relaxtion Cd's I have sometimes a hard time staying focused or using imagery to guide me through the steps. There is sometimes I actually get so relaxed I fall asleep. I have a hard time taking "cat" naps because I find myself feeling more tired than I was before I layed down. I am hoping to advance my relaxtion skills because I seem to have a pretty stressful life these days and the more tips I can learn the better I can learn how to handle my stress and learn to relax.
